Manual calibration

If shifting problems appear while the shift unit is working — say not every gear engages — and automatic calibration (from the app or the system’s own method) does not help, hub and shift unit have to be brought back into step by hand. This is workshop work: book an appointment.

This guide assumes the e-bike system and every E-14 part work perfectly.

  1. Switch the e-bike system off, take the battery out and remove the wheel: Removing and fitting the wheel.

  2. Take off the axle plate and gear 1 as in removing the shift unit — the shift unit can stay on the gearbox.

  3. Shift the hub to gear 14 by hand: turn the shift shaft anticlockwise to the stop with an 8 mm spanner.

  4. Connect the shift unit, put the battery in, switch the system on and shift the shift unit to gear 14 with the + button (watch the display). Switch the system off, take the battery out and separate the plug.

On Bafang and Brose the display does not show the gear: hold the + lever until Multishift reaches 14, and check it on the E-14 2.0 app’s home screen.

  5. Refit gear 1 with its narrow collar towards the gearbox — it slides on easily in only one position — then the axle plate in the right position (five screws, TX20, 3 Nm).

  6. Fit the wheel, connect the shift unit, put the battery in, switch the system on and, as a check, shift through all 14 gears.

Frequently asked questions

When does the E-14 need manual calibration?
When not every gear engages and automatic calibration does not help. The shift unit then comes off, hub and shift unit are each set to gear 14, and everything is reassembled. It is workshop work — leave it to a service shop.
