Cables and connectors

The cables and plugs on the handlebar button, the DC-CAN adapter and the shift unit cannot be replaced separately: if they are damaged, the whole part has to be replaced. A damaged plug means permanent failure of that E-14 part — so it pays to handle them with care.

Connection Plug
e-bike system – DC-CAN adapter Bosch, orange, 4-pin (on the High Power Port, or the BCC with the Adapter2)
handlebar button or Trigger – DC-CAN adapter Higo, blue, 4-pin
shift unit – DC-CAN adapter Higo, purple, 6-pin

  1. Clean the cables and plug around the connection.

  2. Do not pull the cable — take hold of the plug itself.

Not like this: pulling by the cable

  3. Hold both halves of the plug and pull them straight apart — no twisting or bending.

  4. Protect the separated plug from dirt.

  1. Both plug and socket have an arrow on the outside. The plug has a small nose, the socket a matching groove — both in line with the arrow.

  2. Hold the halves straight opposite each other with the arrows lined up, and turn them gently back and forth, without pressure, until the nose drops into the groove. Do not tilt them.

  3. Push them together to the stop.

The cables and plugs are waterproof; you can ride in the rain without worry. Watch out for:

  • No pressure washer — water forced in destroys the parts. At speed in the wet, the effect is similar.
  • When carrying the bike outside a car in the rain, protect the cables and plugs.
  • No solvents for cleaning: they can damage the plastic.
  • Do not trap the cables between other parts or in a bike rack, and do not kink, twist or pull them — repeated strain leads to permanent failure.
  • Poorly finished frame ports can chafe through a cable.
  • Always replace a damaged cable or damaged insulation.
