Fitting the brake disc with an E-14
On a laced wheel, the E-14 shift unit has to come off to reach the brake disc. The order:
- remove the shift unit,
- remove the old disc,
- fit the Rohloff disc,
- refit the shift unit.
This guide assumes the e-bike system and every E-14 part work perfectly. The pictures leave out the spokes.
1. Removing the shift unit

2. Removing the old disc
Section titled “2. Removing the old disc”-
Unscrew the disc’s four fixing bolts completely (5 mm Allen).

Take the disc off the disc cover. If a Rohloff magnet holder is fitted to it, move it to the new disc.

3. Fitting the Rohloff disc
Section titled “3. Fitting the Rohloff disc”-
Put the disc on the disc cover following the direction-of-rotation arrow, and line up its four holes with the threaded holes.

Bolt it on with the four Rohloff fixing bolts (Art. no. 8214), 5 mm Allen, at 10 Nm.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the E-14 shift unit have to come off to change the brake disc?
- Yes. On a laced wheel the disc only comes off and goes on once the shift unit is removed. Four Rohloff bolts (Art. no. 8214) hold it, at 10 Nm.
