Shifting functions and settings

On the Bosch Smart System you reach the E-14 2.0’s settings in the Rohloff E-14 2.0 app — for installing and pairing it, see App and firmware. The automatic modes (A, M+, M) are covered in operating on the Bosch Smart System.

  • On: hold the button and, after the first gear, it carries on in steps of three (1 + 3 + 3 + 3, downwards too).
  • Off: holding the button shifts only one gear.

Pick a starting gear between 4 and 9, or switch the function off. When on, the E-14 shifts back to your chosen gear by itself below 5 km/h — keep the pedals unloaded meanwhile. At present the starting gear can only be set in the app on iOS; on Android, set it in the Bosch Flow app’s eShift menu.

In the Invert shifting menu you can swap the two buttons, reversing the shift direction.

If not every gear engages, or shifting is imprecise, recalibrate:

  1. In the app’s settings choose Calibrate shifting and start it.
  2. It takes about 10 seconds; the display shows 1C7446 (started), then 1C7447 (done).
  3. The app reports success and the E-14 restarts. Then restart the e-bike too.

If that does not work, the calibration can be done by hand: Manual calibration.

The automatic mode times its shifts to the cadence you set. You set it directly in the Bosch system:

  1. Switch the e-bike on and hold the Bosch LED Remote’s select button.

  2. Go to Ride and set your preferred cadence — recommended: 65–75 rpm.

  3. Confirm with the function button and leave with Exit. The automatic mode now works to it.

Frequently asked questions

What does Auto-Downshift do?
When you slow below 5 km/h, the E-14 shifts back on its own to the starting gear you chose (between 4 and 9), so you set off easily after stopping. Keep the pedals unloaded meanwhile. The function can be switched off.
