Fitting the DC/DC-DS Converter

The DC/DC-DS Converter (Art. no. 8802-06) is the central electronic link between a Bafang or Brose drive system and the E-14 2.0: it powers the E-14’s components from the drive battery and carries the communication between them.

The converter goes inside the frame, in the down tube or the seat tube. Fitting it means taking the drive unit out of the frame — we suggest leaving it to us: book an appointment.

  1. Before fitting, connect the purple, 6-pin connecting cable to the converter, in the length that suits the frame (8804–8810, 400–1000 mm).
  2. Also beforehand, connect the converter’s blue, 4-pin Higo plug to the drive’s blue, 4-pin Higo socket:
    • Bafang: on the motor wiring harness or Y-cable;
    • Brose: on the H-cable. The H-cable links battery and motor; one branch is the Brose plug that goes into the motor, another the blue Higo socket for the converter. The H-cable is made specifically for each bike maker and model.
  3. Pull the Trigger’s blue, 4-pin cable into the frame from below, through the motor mount, up to the handlebar.
  4. Push the converter into the frame from below through the motor mount — padded with foam if needed, so it does not rattle.

For the system layout and the other components, see Bafang: installation and Brose: installation.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the E-14 2.0 DC/DC-DS Converter go?
Inside the frame, in the down tube or seat tube; the motor has to come out to fit it. On a Bafang drive it connects to the motor harness or Y-cable, on a Brose drive to the H-cable.
