First oil fill

In a complete bike, the SPEEDHUB is filled with SPEEDHUB OIL at the factory, and since 1 October 2023 separate hubs arrive filled with oil too — the instructions then say “SPEEDHUB → filled with oil, ready to ride”. So a first fill is only needed if a hub reached you without oil.

The oil-change kit (Art. no. 8410) is the best tool for a quick, clean fill.

  1. Turn the hub so the oil drain screw points up, and unscrew it (3 mm).

  2. Push the tube onto the disposable syringe (a drop of superglue secures the joint), draw up the SPEEDHUB OIL and screw the tube into the gear unit.

  3. Push the 12.5 ml of SPEEDHUB OIL into the gear unit. To equalise the pressure, draw at least 25 ml of air back out of the hub before unscrewing the tube.

  4. Put the drain screw back and tighten it (3 mm, 0.5 Nm).
