The ratio between the lowest and highest gear (the overall range) decides which climbs you can manage and what top speed you reach. The difference between neighbouring gears (the step) decides how well you keep your momentum when shifting. With a range above 500% and even steps below 15%, you can always shift to the right gear in time and ride everywhere at the cadence that suits you.

The SPEEDHUB’s 526% is roughly the range of a 2×10 derailleur — except that there the gears overlap and step unevenly, while on the SPEEDHUB all 14 gears are usable and each steps an equal 13.6%. The range can be shifted faster or slower by changing chainring and sprocket. Each gear’s ratio: The 14 gears inside.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SPEEDHUB's gear range?
526%: 14 gears with even 13.6% steps — the same as a good 2×10 derailleur system, but without overlaps.
