Warranty, invoice and serial number

We are Rohloff AG’s official service and distribution partner in Hungary. You get an invoice for every job we do — it proves professional maintenance and a genuine service history, both for keeping your warranty and when you sell the bike later.

The serial number

Every SPEEDHUB 500/14 carries its own consecutive serial number. On older hubs (up to serial number 75,000) it is on a label on the shell; on newer ones it is laser-engraved. It tells the year of manufacture and the parts generation, and it proves ownership.

No serial number, no warranty

Warranty, repairs and parts service are available only for a hub with a known serial number. If the label really has to come off, cut out the part with the serial number with a sharp knife and leave it on the hub — or keep it and write the number down.

The warranty

The manufacturer guarantees the SPEEDHUB 500/14’s faultless operation for two years from the date of purchase. The warranty does not cover normal wear of wear parts.

• Wear parts: sprocket and its circlip, carrier and lock ring, shift cables, twist-grip rubber, E-14 push button, brake disc, chain tensioner pulleys, the external shift actuation’s cable pulley and gearbox, shaft seals, gaskets, bearings.
• Not wear parts: the gear unit running in its oil bath, the gear and shifter housings, and the E-14 electronic units.

The warranty requires the hub to be serviced with an oil change at least once a year or every 5,000 km, documented by a receipt — the service invoice. It lapses in case of accident, external force, modification, improper installation or use, insufficient care, or disassembly of the gear unit.

For warranty matters, come to us: as the official service partner, we handle them. If the hub has to go to the Rohloff factory, the factory currently quotes about 3 working days after the parcel arrives within the two-year warranty, and about 20 working days outside it — plus shipping. The hub does not need to be registered beforehand for service.

Registration and theft

You can register the hub in your name through Rohloff’s online registration. It also confirms that you received it complete and without visible faults, and lets the factory match it straight away to its year and parts generation. If a registered hub is stolen, the theft can be reported to Rohloff: if the factory learns anything about the hub, you will be told. We are happy to help with registering or reporting.

Buying a used hub?

• Buy only a hub with a serial number.
• Ask the seller for the invoices of earlier services — they show that the hub was maintained regularly.
• If in doubt, bring it to us and we will check it before you buy.
